HONORING
Dr. David L. Turpin
Moore-Riedel Professor, Orthodontics
Dr. David L. Turpin is editor emeritus of the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (AJO-DO). He served as the editor-in-chief of the AJO-DO from 1999 to 2010 and as the interim editor-in-chief from 2013 to 2014. Prior to this most recent editorial position, Dr. Turpin served 11 years as editor of the Angle Orthodontist, a publication of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists, and 15 years as editor of the PCSO Bulletin, a publication of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists (PCSO). Throughout this period of time, he has sought to emphasize the value of evidence-based research findings for the purpose of improving patient care. This Symposium is all about helping clinicians as well as educators develop tools that support the value of evidence-based orthodontic programs worldwide. The future of our specialty is bright if the overall goal of every orthodontist is to base treatment decisions on the best available evidence. In looking back, it has be a joy of mine to play a small role in witnessing a change of this magnitude.
